Ivanhoe Mines Ltd is a Canada-based mining development and exploration company. It is focused on the exploration, development and recovery of minerals and precious metals from its property interests located primarily in Africa. The Company's project includes Kamoa-Kakula Project, Western Foreland Project, Kipushi Project and Platreef Project. The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project is a stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers(km) west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. Its Western Foreland project is located to the north, south and west of the Kamoa-Kakula Project. Its Kipushi Project lies adjacent to the town of Kipushi and the border with Zambia, and approximately 30 km southwest of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. Its Platreef Project is located approximately 8 km from Mokopane and 280 km northeast of Johannesburg, South Africa.
