Company Description
NiSource Inc. is an energy holding company whose subsidiaries provide natural gas, electricity and other products and services. The Company's operations are divided into two primary reportable segments, the Gas Distribution Operations and Electric Operations segments. The Electric Operations segment generate, transmit and distribute electricity through its subsidiary NIPSCO to approximately 20 counties in the northern part of Indiana for residential, commercial and industrial customers. The Gas Distribution Operations segment provides natural gas service and transportation. Its natural gas distribution operations serve in six states. It operates approximately 53,700 miles of distribution main pipeline plus the associated individual customer service lines and 1,700 miles of transmission main pipeline located in its service areas. Throughout its service areas it also has gate stations and other operations support facilities.
